Mini club - 9/22 - Google Drive

We will host 3 tournaments this season.  Please see info below.

Tournament #1  Sunday 9/22/2024

Two different locations and times:

Location #1 - Norfolk Forekicks  10 Pine Street, Norfolk, MA.  This will be a14U multi club event.  The tournament runs from 12-3pm and athletes should arrive by 11:45 to sign in and meet the SCVB coaches.  The only athletes from our SCVB Mini Club that will be attending this tournament are our athletes that practice at Teamworks on Thursday from 6:30-7:30pm.  Our 7th and 8th grade boys will also attend this event.

Location #2 - North Kingstown High School.  All athletes, with the exception of the athletes attending the Forekicks location will attend the tournament at NKHS.  Athletes should arrive by 4:00pm and tournament will begin at 4:30 pm.

Tournament #2   Sunday 10/6/2024

Location:  Wickford Middle School

Time:  10:00am-1:30pm  Athletes should arrive by 9:40am.

All of our SCVB athletes will attend this outdoor volleyball event.  Parents welcome to attend.  Bring your own chair.

Tournament # 3  Sunday 10/27/2024

Location:  North Kingstown High School

Time:  For all of our athletes that practice on Tuesday at NKHS, your tournament will run from 4:00pm-5:15pm.

For our athletes that practice on Thursdays at Teamworks, your tournament will run from 5:30-6:45pm.

All of our athletes will attend either the first or second wave of this final Mini Club event.

SCVB Mini-Club is our program for volleyball players in grades 3rd-9th.  Our athletes will practice or compete twice per week from September 1st - October 27th.  They will receive uniforms shirts and knee pads and get to compete in 3-4 tournaments against SCVB teams and other volleyball clubs.  We have some of our most experienced volleyball coaches assigned to participate this season.  The goal of the season is to develop the skills needed to be successful in the sport, while have friendly competitions.  

The cost for the program is $415.00 and covers the 12 practices, 3 tournaments, the players required AAU membership, uniforms and kneepads.

We have a maximum of 125 spots for mini-club this year.  Registration is now open.  Please register to reserve your spot asap.

Good Afternoon and thanks for everyone's patience as we are ready to announce more details about our Mini Club-Fall season.

We limited the total number of participants this year and have more gym time available to help provide more meaningful instruction for our athletes this season.  We have 125 athletes registered.  We are providing training for athletes between 3rd and 9th grade this year.  If you are receiving this email, your athletes has been successfully registered.

We will be using the Sportsengine mobile app to display our schedule and send weekly updates.  Sportsengine chat feature is for our staff to communicate to our families.  Please have the app downloaded and follow along by viewing "SCVB 2024 Mini Club".  To add an athlete or parent to the sportsengine mobile app, the primary account holder can select to view the roster and click on their athletes name.  From their select "guardian" and send that person the request to join.

September 1st - We will host a parent meeting and pass out club uniforms and knee pads to all of our athletes at check-in.  I plan on hosting check-in out side of the gym entrance.  Check-in and parent meeting will take place during the first 30 minutes of your athletes scheduled practice on 9/1/24.

PRACTICES:  

Each athlete will be assigned to one week night practice and one Sunday evening practice time.  Please take your time to understand which practices your athlete should attend.  

Group # 1 will be our athletes entering 7th grade or younger (unless you fall into group # 2)

Group # 2 will be our athletes entering 8th grade or older.  ** In addition to these athletes, Group # 2 will also include any 7th grade boys AND any ATHLETE THAT PLAYED ON A SOUTH COUNTY COMPETITIVE TEAM LAST SEASON (Sharks, Stingrays, Scorpions, or any 14's team).  If you fall into group # 2, you will not attend any group # 1 practices.

Now that you know which group your athlete is in, here is the practice schedule:

Group # 1.  Practices are Sundays at NKHS 4:00-5:30pm.  Group # 1 will also practice on Tuesdays at NKHS.  (All 6th graders and younger from 5:00-6:00pm and all 7th graders from 6:00-7:00pm). 

Group # 2.  Practices are Sundays at NKHS 5:30-7:00pm.  Group # 2 will also practice on Thursdays at Teamworks-Warwick.  (all 8th graders from 5:30-6:30pm and all 9th GRADERS, 7-8TH GRADE BOYS, ALL RETURNING COMPETITIVE CLUB PLAYERS REGUARDLESS OF GRADE from 6:30-7:30pm).

**Understandably, the question I get most is concerning which weekday my athlete will be assigned to and if he or she can be assigned with another athlete.  We will try to remain flexible if an athlete needs to switch nights to help with conflicts, siblings, carpooling, etc.  The goal is to keep each practice session balanced to allow for the most quality instruction and practice repetitions as possible during practice.  If you require a different practice time slot, please explain that to me during your check in.  Thank you.

Coaches:

Our coaches include several of our competitive club coaches as well as current college volleyball athletes.  All of our coaches will be safesport trained and have completed background checks as a requirement to be part of our coaching staff.

Tournament Schedule:

Sunday September 22nd - Most teams at NKHS.  Other locations may be used.

Sunday October 6th - Outdoor grass tournament with other New England Clubs - 10:00am start and Location will be in RI(TBD).

Sunday October 27th - Final mini-club tournament to be held at NKHS.

Tournaments will be 2-3 hours long in a fun and friendly environment.

We will make teams the day of each event.  We do not have set teams for mini-club and teams will likely change each event.
