The Cyclones, Storm and Squash teams all competed in Springfield, MA at the NERVA 16 Open Qualifier last weekend.
The Storm rolled through their Day 1 pool, finishing in first place with a 3-0 record. Their second pool was equally successful, finishing with 2 exciting victories and a well played match against the tournament's top seed, the SMASH 16's, to finish at 5-1, qualifying for the Gold division in NERVA 1.
Despite being a 15 team, the Cyclones came out second in their Day 1 pool, and battled the 16 teams closely all weekend. They qualified in the Bronze division of NERVA 1, and finished as the 4th highest seeded 15's team at the tournament.
The Squash played the most of any team at the tournament, fitting 8 matches and 19 sets into 3 days. After finishing in a tie for 3rd in the Day 1 pool, the team constantly improved, and battled the SMASH 16's to their second closest match of the weekend. That momentum was used to dominate their Day 2 pool with a 4-0 record and 1st place finish, placing them at the top of the AAA division in NERVA 1. Pool 2 included avenging an earlier loss to Meraki 16-1, and beating a tough Blast team in 2 to finish the weekend.
Great job to all of our teams and look for the scores from the 18's Open teams as well as the 14 Surge team playing in Springfield this weekend.
